Aung San Suu Kyi's Banned NLD Party Hopes for Divine Intervention

Over a hundred Buddhist monks and nuns were invited to the headquarters of the National League for Democracy party in Rangoon Wednesday morning, to receive alms and traditional donations of saffron and monastery supplies.

NLD leader Aung San Suu Kyi, along with hundreds of party members and supporters, gathered at the headquarters in the morning to prepare for the donation.

Burma’s military junta formally disbanded the NLD after the pro-democracy party did not send any of its candidates to participate in elections held early last month.

The fate of the NLD is still not clear as the Junta declared the party as illegal, but the NLD has been active since Aung San Suu Kyi was released in mid-November.
