Dear Fellow Burmese People,

Please save the dates for the following occasions.

1) July 6, 2008 Sunday

We are going to mark 46th anniversary of the July 7th 1962 student crackdown. On that day, Rangoon University's students staged a peaceful protest against restrictions on the university students. Since students had objected to the military coup in 1962, the regime had harbored a grudge against students and brutally crushed down the peaceful student demonstration. Many students were killed, arrested, and tortured by the military forces. In addition, the regime dynamited Rangoon University's historic student union building on the morning of July 8th. Since then, Burma's student unions have been forced go underground. The truth behind the events of July 1962 is still disclosed by the military regime, but we believe that Ne Win's military group has sole responsibility for that crime.

We would be protesting in front of Burmese Consulate to honor the fallen student leaders during the bomb explosion. The brave student leaders are gone but they are never forgotten. Ne Win government could not destroy the spirit of the Fighting Peacocks.

2) July 19, 2008 Saturday (Arzarni Day)

We would be offering lunch to monks in order to share good deeds to fallen martyrs. We are always grateful to those fallen heroes for their role in fighting against Britain Colonist and Fascist Japan for genuine independence in Burma. This event would be held at "Wi.Thaut.Dar.Yone.Dahmayanthi.Byamawihara Monastery" (Thone.Parr Kyaung) in Jackson Heights.

3) August 8, 2008 Friday (20th Anniversary of 8888 Revolution)
8888 Revolution is the greatest milestone since independence struggle in Burma. Millions of Burmese people have collectively demanded justice, freedom and democracy in Burma. We are here to honor our brothers and sisters who took part in this historic revolution, inspired the upcoming generations and thousands of them even sacrificed their lives for the democratic Burma.
This event would take a few hours. We roughly plan to start off at UN Dag Hammarsjold Park (the corner of 47th St. & 1st Ave.). We are scheduled to have speeches from various leaders, and prestigious writers and entertainment. Then we would rally to where Burmese Consulate is. We would protest in front of Burmese Consulate. Moreover, we are pleased to welcome Ko Athein & Ko Zaw Min Htwe, 88 Generation Students who would have walked 3000 miles for the international awareness of human rights abuse in Burma.
